The Eastern Cape was in serious trouble following a huge outbreak of coronavirus infections in Nelson Mandela Bay and the Karoo, with the wave rapidly spreading to other parts of the province.
With the spike in Covid-19 cases in parts of the Western Cape, the provincial treasury has made available funds from two key frontline departments to stand ready for the revival of the virus.
