SALO Public Dialogue on Mozambique

The Southern African Liaison Office (SALO), in partnership with OSISA, kicked off the year with a public multi-stakeholder dialogue on the conflict in the north of Mozambique.

This dialogue brought together national, regional and international civil society and other relevant stakeholders in order to build consensus and solidarity with the people of Mozambique. This dialogue took place against the backdrop of the first 2022 SADC Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government which began on 7 January that has Mozambique as the sole item on the agenda.

The conflict in northern Mozambique has been on the regional bloc’s agenda for the past few years and is certain to be a key issue for the region in 2022. Various civil society speakers shared perspectives on the developing situation in the country and the national, regional and international responses.

Speakers included Prof Adriano Nuvunga; Egna Sidumo and Claudio Feo amongst others.
