Venitia Govender

Founder Member

Venitia Govender is a founder member of SALO. She comes from a legal academic background (BA LLB),  is  a former director of a human rights NGO in SA – the Detainees Parents Support Committee thereafter the Human Rights Committee, and was a public servant post-94 in the Ministry of Safety and Security. She is currently an independent human Rights & Organisational development consultant, with over twenty years of research, advocacy, lobbying, organizing, networking and training & facilitation work experience in South Africa, Zimbabwe and the SADC region. Along with other SALO colleagues she spearheaded the formation of the Zimbabwe Solidarity Forum in SA in 2005, and later coordinated the Save Zimbabwe Campaign in SA, and in collaboration with Zimbabwean activists spearheaded the Blood diamonds campaign.
