The Assistant of the President of the Republic, Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid, has reaffirmed Sudan’s backing and support for the people and government of sister chad, and Sudan’s resolve to maintain brotherly strong bonds between the two people.
The Assistant has directed in a meeting held at the republican palace on Sunday, the higher committee for the health convoy heading for chad, that all obstacles facing the convoy be removed. He commended the initiative taken by the Sudanese National Youth Association.
The death of Sheikh Hassan al-Turabi on Saturday marks the eclipse of a radical era of Sudanese Islamist politics. But Turabi’s legacy is still keenly felt in the country’s fractured domestic politics and isolated international position.
