World Refugee Day: A Global Call for Solidarity

Every year on June 20, the international community observes World Refugee Day, a United Nations-designated day dedicated to honouring the courage and resilience of refugees worldwide. The day serves as a reminder of their rights, struggles, and aspirations as they seek safety and rebuild their lives.

This year’s theme emphasises solidarity with refugees, a commitment that goes beyond words and translates into meaningful action.

Solidarity involves:

  • Listening to refugees and ensuring their voices are heard.
  • Protecting their fundamental right to seek safety and live with dignity.
  • Supporting efforts to resolve conflicts so refugees can return home in safety.
  • Empowering them to rebuild their lives and contribute to their host communities.
  • Providing resources to countries that welcome and integrate refugees.

Above all, solidarity sends a powerful message: refugees are not alone. The world stands with them.

On this #WorldRefugeeDay, individuals, organisations, and governments are encouraged to show their support and take action. Together, the global community can create a more inclusive and compassionate world for those forced to flee their homes.
