International Transgender Day of Visibility | 31 March
Visibility, Safety, Dignity and Equal Rights for All
Recognition, inclusion, and dignity are fundamental to building just and equitable societies. Today, we shine a light on the resilience, leadership, and contributions of transgender and gender-diverse people across all sectors from education and healthcare to business, arts, activism, and community development.
While progress has been made, transgender communities around the world continue to face significant barriers, including discrimination in employment and healthcare, limited legal recognition, hate speech, and violence. Challenges in accessing identity documents, safe public services, and equal protection under the law continue to impact their safety, economic security, and overall wellbeing.
Visibility remains a powerful driver of social change. When trans voices are recognised and amplified, harmful stereotypes are challenged, inclusive policies are strengthened, and safer, more supportive spaces are created for current and future generations.
SALO’s work is grounded in the mainstreaming of gender, and the promotion of the rights of women, children, and LGBTIQ+ communities. We align with international, regional, and national protocols, frameworks, and legislation that advance equality, inclusion, and dignity for all. Central to this is our commitment to empowering women, protecting vulnerable groups, and upholding the rights of LGBTQIA+ persons.
On this Transgender Day of Visibility, SALO stands with transgender and gender-diverse communities , not only in visibility, but in action, allyship, and accountability.
