Mx Nxumalo – GenSouth Geneva – Feb 2026
Mx. Busisiwe Nxumalo is pictured (first from the left in the front row) with participants and contributors of the GenSouth 2026 program, gathered in Geneva.
They came together to advance new perspectives from the Global South on the future of multilateralism, fostering dialogue on equitable governance, climate justice, global security, and financial reform. Convened by foraus, GenSouth 2026 brought together emerging researchers, policy practitioners, and thought leaders from across the Global South to co-develop actionable pathways toward a more inclusive international system by 2050.
A key contribution to the discussions came from Busisiwe Nxumalo of the Southern African Liaison Office (SALO), co-author of Vision 1: Toward a multilateralism of reciprocity and rights. The vision calls for a reconfiguration of global governance that recognises mobility, financial access, and political participation as fundamental rights, while positioning women and youth from the Global South as co-designers and decision-makers within multilateral institutions. Mx Busisiwe Nxumalo’s contributions can be found on page 8 of the GenSouth Project Brief titled: New voices from the Global South for the future(s) of multilateralism
