International Transgender Day of Visibility – 31 March
Today we commemorate Trans Day of Visibility, which falls every year and is celebrated internationally on 31 March. This day is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the contributions of transgender and gender-diverse individuals in our society and to raise awareness of the challenges and discrimination that they face.
According to the ACLU, more than 500 anti-LGBTQIA+ bills have been introduced in state legislatures across the country. What’s more, incidents of direct physical violence have increased, particularly against Black and Brown trans women, with the American Medical Association declaring an ongoing epidemic since 2019.
As an organisation committed to human rights and inclusivity we acknowledge the significance of visibility in advancing the rights and dignity of transgender and gender-diverse individuals. Visibility fosters acceptance, strengthens advocacy, and amplifies the voices of those who continue to face marginalisation.
On this Trans Day of Visibility, we stand in solidarity with transgender and gender-diverse communities.
