SALO Public Dialogue on South Africa’s Four G20 Priority Areas: The Africa and the world we want -Jul 10 2025
On the 10th of July 2025 SALO held a virtual public SALO dialogue under the title of ‘South Africa’s Four G20 Priority Areas: The Africa and the world we want’
During South Africa’s G20 presidency, the government has prioritised four key areas for deliberation under the broader theme of “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability”.
The four priority areas are:
1. Take action to strengthen disaster resilience and response
2. Take action to ensure debt sustainability for low-income countries.
3. Mobilise finance for a just energy transition
4. Harness critical minerals for inclusive growth and sustainable development.
South Africa has placed Africa at the centre of its G20 agenda. Therefore this dialogue intends on fostering African voices as a central component of the G20 engagement process.
This virtual public dialogue proceeded as follows:
1. Presentations and updates on the priority areas by the G20 engagement groups
2. Response by African stakeholders
3. Discussion and engagement from participants
