SALO Virtual Public Dialogue Fostering African voices in the G20: Progress, Challenges, and Opportunities – 24 April 2025

The Southern African Liaison Office (SALO) held a strategic public dialogue on African representation and influence in South Africa’s historic G20 presidency on the 24th of April 2025.

?      Status update on African participation across G20 tracks and engagement groups (T20, C20, F20, Y20, W20), and the African Union
?      Strategies for integrating African priorities into the G20 agenda
?      Challenges and opportunities for non-state actors’ engagement
?      Ensuring progressive outcomes across all themes
?      Outlining the key economic development, governance, and policy concerns African stakeholders are prioritising in terms of South Africa’s G20
?      Securing and enhancing African CSO representation and participation within the G20 (including post-South Africa’s G20 Presidency)
?      Lessons learned from the Brazil G20 process

Our dialogue featured representatives from the different G20 processes including African civil society, who shared their perspectives on the themes above.

This dialogue is part of SALO’s ongoing work to promote inclusive global governance and ensure that South Africa’s G20 presidency delivers meaningful benefits for the continent.
